Uyarsivik Lake Basecamp Improvement

Tuktuk Nogait National Park, NWT

Project Info

The project involved the install of a wall tent platform (all materials supplied except, fasteners and building tie downs), supply and install of two toilet shelters, a simple shower shelter, a canoe tie-down, a simple deck, a water pump system, an in-ground cooler, as well as supplying several other miscellaneous items and performing maintenance activities. All structures were pre-assembled offsite, deconstructed, packaged for shipping to Paulatuk (if required) and then on to site via Twin Otter float plane. Luxton Construction crew then reassembled all components on site. The window of operation in Tuktut Nogait National park is short due to caribou calving in the spring and other operational needs in late summer making this project unfold within operational periods.

This site experiences winds up to 120 kph. Luxton supplied and installed an anchoring

system comprised of hi tension galvanized tie down strap with tightening ratchet, or wire rope with turnbuckle, firmly bolted into the structure frame at the top and at the bottom to an X-model anchor with two 48” long steel alloy ¾” diameter rods jack hammered fully in the ground.
