Crabapple Sewer Lift Station S103 Upgrade Project

Whistler, BC

Sewer wet well improvements included decommissioning the existing pump station, associated piping and placing the station on 24/7 bypass, installation of custom designed FRP panels and precast lid, new stainless steel piping, re-installation of existing pumps, new access platform installation and final system commissioning.  Luxton’s execution approach involved detailed confined space planning and monitoring for the duration of the project as the work occurred inside a temporarily decommissioned sewer wetwell and was a high-risk confined space. A double block and bleed system was implemented into the inlet piping for safety of workers. In order to maintain Whistler’s Sewer process lines a 24/7 bypass system was set up. This was designed and reviewed in coordination with United Rentals Fluid Systems, Luxton, and the Client Representative. Constant monitoring of the bypass was required by Luxton crews and servicing to ensure there was no risk of backup to neighboring residents.
