Beaver Management Activities

Naval Radio Station detachment of CFB Esquimalt, Aldergrove, BC

Project Info

This project involves flood mitigation and beaver management work to be completed at the Naval Radio Station (NRS) detachment of CFB Esquimalt. These undeveloped areas support diverse wildlife, including beavers, and are relatively flat with poor drainage. The NRS Aldergrove property is drained by five Salmon River tributaries and three Bertrand Creek tributaries. The Salmon River and tributaries cross the north end of the Site, and Tyre Creek and Bertrand Creek pass through the west and south ends of the Site, respectively. The objective is to mitigate flooding and to restore access/passage to habitat for Salish sucker, salmonids, other indigenous fish and aquatic species and restore riparian habitat
